Re: Random sound skipping star control 2
Try 1.1.6.0 which was released just about the same time that you posted your inquiry. What you describe sounds like an audio timing issue that has was patched.

Edit: I tried version 1.0 and that did the same thing
Version 1.0.0.0 of 4DO didn't work? Am I understanding this correctly? If so, that's a real game changer and rules out SlimDX entirely. It will be easier to diagnose.

Re: The Screenshot Thread
Well I played Lost Eden all the way through recently.
Oh yeah! What a babe!
Of course, you meet her and 5 seconds later... BAM! She's your sister. Kinda a deal breaker.

Re: 4do not starting
Well this is definitely a difficult problem. I find it interesting that it created the logging text file but didn't add anything to it. That at least means some code ran rather than a complete failure to launch. I'm pretty baffled as to why it isn't logging anything. I'd really like to figure this o...

Translators wanted!
4DO is set up to support multiple languages (in the upcoming version). Of course, this requires manual translation of the various textual occurences in the program. If you'd like support for a specific language in 4DO, we could use your help! To translate 4DO, you will be updating "resource fil...

Re: 4do not starting
Well, er, I don't think I've updated the SlimDX dll's yet. It keeps slipping my mind. I would try the SDK if you haven't already. The output you're seeing in ILDasm is similar to what someone else was seeing. The SDK fixed it for him, mysteriously. Also, just making sure, some older versions ...

Re: 4do not starting
There is one extra solution flying around that you maybe haven't tried yet. BryWI found that some 64 bit systems have to get the SlimDX SDK due to an installer bug. It's a bigger download than you should normally need, but it may work. Try the "Install Developer SDK" button in this link: h...

Re: How to set up a LightGun???
Yes, it is true, there is no lightgun support yet. I put a bit of time into trying to add support, actually. The mechanics of accepting input from the user are definitely easy (I'd use the mouse for sure). Performing the actual emulation is the difficulty I ran into. I have been unable to determine ...

Re: Frames Per Second very unstable (v.1.1.1.1)
DJoneK, Thank you for the feedback. I know someone else who is seeing a slowdown issue once every second. What you've found fits an emerging theory of mine... The emulation checks for new joystick/input devices every 60 frames (which is normally once every 60 seconds). I am beginning to wonder if th...
