whenever I try to start 4do on win 7 x64 it does nothing. when I check on the task manager it just sits there and then closes. no error message, no log file.
EDIT: tried all the solutions on the fourm and none worked
4do not starting
Re: 4do not starting
There is one extra solution flying around that you maybe haven't tried yet.
BryWI found that some 64 bit systems have to get the SlimDX SDK due to an installer bug. It's a bigger download than you should normally need, but it may work. Try the "Install Developer SDK" button in this link: http://slimdx.org/download_mar11.php.

Re: 4do not starting
I am not so sure it's a slimdx issue on this since the updated file is included in the releases now. The only thing I can think of is to double check and reinstall all the dependencies on the downloads page verifying that they do completely install. If everything is in order on that front, something is conflicting with 4DO running. Close all other apps and even try running running 4DO in adminstrator mode. It's very odd for there to be no errors and no log created. Even if it were a problem with SlimDX the program would start and drop a log file. I would think that it would be a .NET 4.0 issue truthfully. SlimDX Issues should be a thing of the past (I hope).
Maybe using ILSpy as documented at this link... viewtopic.php?f=4&t=26 would help show what dependencies are missing. Let us know how it goes.

Re: 4do not starting
This is what I got out of ILspy
when I started 4d0 up it created a file called "DebugLog.txt" HOWEVER it was devoid of any text

Re: 4do not starting
Well, er, I don't think I've updated the SlimDX dll's yet. It keeps slipping my mind.
I would try the SDK if you haven't already.
The output you're seeing in ILDasm is similar to what someone else was seeing. The SDK fixed it for him, mysteriously.
Also, just making sure, some older versions of 4DO had buggy logging, but as long as you're using the latest, that eliminates that factor.

Re: 4do not starting
I installed the SDK... no luck
Does it have something to do with my 8-core AMD CPU? are the 8 cores screwing it up?

Re: 4do not starting
It wasn't the sdk that fixed that problem, it was the Jan 2012 version of SlimDX for .NET 4.0 that fixed it. Get that version for your OS x86 or 64bit at http://www.slimdx.org/download.php
BTW Johnny, It looks like there is a 32bit and 64bit version of SlimDX for .NET 4.0 now... I am sure that the 32bit version will run on 64bit OS but why must there be two version to complicate things...... arghh.

Re: 4do not starting
once again, no dice
Re: 4do not starting
Once you installed it, did you remove the SlimDX.dll from the 4DO folder?
