Problems Causing Slow Down of PC

Hi i have tried the latest version and when i goto setup the PAD (i use Xbox 360 Pad) it slows my computer right down until it becomes so slow/Laggy that i cant setup the pad confiuration, and i have to try some how to exit the config by using keyboard which as the pc is so lagged it takes ages to even select anything,
Anyone know what maybe causing this.

System:
Win 7 64bit
8 Gig DDR 3
Intel 13 3.4ghz
nVidea GT 610 2gb G/C
All Drvers ETC upto Date

Other emus are running ok, PCSX2, Dolphin, FreeDO, epsxe.
Any help would be appreciated.

just a guess, the USB port on your system, is it 2.0?
Check your "Device Manager" in Windows and make sure the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" is closed and does NOT have any exclamation points or other problems.
